1. Orders and Production

Are your pieces made to order?
Most pieces are made to order and handcrafted at our foundry in France once your purchase is confirmed. We occasionally carry a small number of pieces in stock — these are available for immediate dispatch.


How long does production take?

Please allow approximately 6–10 weeks for production. This is an estimate and may vary slightly depending on production volume and material availability. Shipping time is separate and begins once your order has shipped.


Can I change or cancel my order?

Because production begins shortly after purchase, please contact us at info@birtaolafsdottir.com within 48 hours of your order confirmation if you need to make a change. After this point your piece may already be in production and changes may not be possible.


Can I change my shipping address?

Please contact us as soon as possible at info@birtaolafsdottir.com. We will do our best to accommodate changes before your order ships.


What happens if I order multiple items?

Orders containing multiple items are typically shipped together once all pieces are complete. We reserve the right to ship items separately where necessary.

2. Shipping and Delivery

Do you ship internationally?
Our website currently ships to Switzerland and France. If you are based outside these countries and would like to purchase a piece, please contact us directly at info@birtaolafsdottir.com and we will be happy to assist you.


When will my order ship?

Once your order has shipped you will receive a confirmation email with tracking details. Estimated transit times from dispatch are 3–5 business days for domestic shipments and 7–14 business days for international shipments. These are estimates and are not guaranteed.


Do you require a signature upon delivery?

Yes. A signature is required upon delivery. If no one is available to sign, the courier will leave instructions to reschedule. Please keep an eye on tracking updates and any communication from the courier.


What happens if my package is lost?

If your shipment is lost before confirmed delivery, we will work with the carrier to investigate. Once your order is marked as delivered and signed for, responsibility transfers to you as the recipient.


What if I refuse delivery?

If a shipment is refused, you remain responsible for the original shipping costs, return shipping fees, and any customs charges incurred.

3. Returns

Do you accept returns?
All sales are final. Every piece is individually numbered, hand-stamped, and certificated upon purchase, making each one uniquely yours. We do not accept returns or exchanges. Nothing in this policy affects any mandatory statutory rights you may have under the laws of your country of residence.


What if my piece arrives damaged?

Please contact us promptly upon delivery at info@birtaolafsdottir.com with your order number, a description of the issue, and clear photographs of the item and packaging. Prompt notification is important as carrier insurance claims are subject to the carrier's own reporting deadlines. Depending on the circumstances we may offer repair, replacement, or store credit.


Do you offer repairs?

We offer complimentary repair for items damaged upon arrival, subject to inspection. For damage occurring after delivery, repair services may be available at a cost. Please contact us to discuss.

4. PRODUCT CARE

How should I care for my piece?
Gently wipe with a dry microfiber cloth after use to remove dust. Bronze is a living material and will naturally develop a patina over time, deepening in colour and character with exposure to air, heat, ash, and moisture. This is not a defect — it is part of the nature of the work.


To brighten the surface, apply a soft cloth with a mixture of white vinegar and salt or a gentle bronze polish, rubbing lightly in circular motions. Rinse with water and dry thoroughly. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scrubbing pads.

5. Payment and Security

What payment methods do you accept?
Payments are processed securely through Shopify's payment systems.


Do you store my payment details?

We do not store full payment details. Payment processing is handled by secure third-party providers.
