Orders are typically processed and prepared for shipment within 1–3 business days from the next business day after your order is placed.

If your order includes both in stock and made to order items, it will be shipped in accordance with our multi-item order policy.

MADE TO ORDER

All pieces are made to order unless otherwise stated. Production begins shortly after an order is placed.

Please allow approximately 6–10 weeks for production and preparation for shipment. Production timelines are estimates and may vary depending on order volume, material availability, and external supply conditions.

Production time is calculated from the next business day after your order is placed.

We reserve the right to reasonably extend production timelines where necessary due to supply constraints, material delays, or circumstances beyond our control.

SHIPPING CONFIRMATION & DELIVERY

Once your order ships, you’ll receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking information.

Estimated shipping transit times:

  • Domestic: 2–7 business days
  • International: 5–14 business days


Delivery time begins once your order has shipped, not when the order is placed.

ORDERS WITH MULTIPLE ITEMS

If your order includes multiple items with different production timelines, your order will typically be shipped once all items are completed, based on the longest estimated production period.

We reserve the right to ship items separately at our discretion.

If you request split shipments before all items are ready, additional shipping charges may apply.

Production timelines for multi-item orders are determined by the item with the longest production estimate.

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS & CUSTOMS

International customers are responsible for any and all customs duties, import taxes, VAT, and related charges imposed by their local authorities.

We are not responsible for customs delays or additional import fees.

If a shipment is refused at delivery, the customer remains responsible for original shipping costs, return shipping costs, customs charges, and any administrative fees incurred.

RETURN POLICY

Eligible non-customized items may be returned within 14 days of delivery for store credit.

Refunds are not offered unless required by mandatory law.

To request a return, please email info@birtaolafsdottir.com with your order number. Returns must be approved before being shipped.

Approved returns must be shipped within 3 business days of receiving return authorization. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer. Original shipping fees, customs duties, and taxes are non-refundable.

Store credit issued for approved returns is valid for 12 months from the date of issuance, unless otherwise stated. Store credit is non-transferable, has no cash value, and may not be redeemed for cash.

FINAL SALE ITEMS

Because each piece is made to order, we strongly recommend reviewing measurements, weight, and product details before placing your order. The following are final sale and are not eligible for return or exchange:

  • Orders purchased using store credit

RETURN CONDITIONS

Approved returns must be:

  • Unused
  • In original condition
  • Returned with original packaging


Returns that do not meet these requirements may be refused. We reserve the right to deduct a restocking or repair fee from store credit where applicable.

DAMAGED OR INCORRECT ITEMS

If your item arrives damaged or incorrect, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery at info@birtaolafsdottir.com and include:

  • Your order number
  • A description of the issue
  • Clear photos of the item and packaging


Failure to notify us within 48 hours may result in denial of the claim. Depending on the circumstances, we may offer repair, replacement, exchange (subject to availability), or store credit.

SHIPPING FEES & RETURN SHIPPING

Store credit issued for returns does not include:

  • Original shipping fees paid at checkout
  • Duties/taxes/customs fees (for international orders)


Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer. Original shipping fees and customs duties are non-refundable.

ORDER CHANGES & CANCELLATIONS

Because production begins shortly after purchase, cancellation or modification requests must be submitted in writing within 24 hours of purchase confirmation. We cannot guarantee acceptance of cancellation requests made after this period. After 24 hours, your order may already be in production and may not be modified or canceled.

THIRD-PARTY PURCHASES

If you purchased one of our pieces through a third-party retailer or stockist, please refer to that retailer’s policies. We are not able to process returns or exchanges for items purchased outside of our website.

RISK OF LOSS

Risk of loss and title for purchased items transfer to the customer upon delivery to the shipping address provided at checkout.

Where signature upon delivery is required, responsibility transfers once the shipment is marked as delivered and signed for at the designated address.

If a shipment is lost prior to confirmed delivery, we will work with the carrier to investigate and, where appropriate, file a claim.

Customers are responsible for ensuring accurate shipping information at the time of purchase.

INSPECTION UPON DELIVERY

Customers are responsible for inspecting items promptly upon delivery and notifying us of any visible defects or discrepancies.

RIGHTS OF WITHDRAWAL (EU/UK Consumers)

Consumers residing in the European Union or United Kingdom may have a statutory right to withdraw from certain purchases within 14 days of delivery. However, pursuant to applicable consumer protection laws, the right of withdrawal does not apply to:

  • Goods made to the consumer’s specifications
  • Clearly personalized or customized items


Where an item has been customized or personalized, the right of withdrawal is excluded. Nothing in this policy limits mandatory statutory rights.

Nothing in this Shipping & Returns Policy limits or excludes any rights granted under applicable consumer protection laws.

Care Instructions

Bronze is a living material. With time, exposure to air, heat, ash, and moisture will deepen its color and build a patina unique to its use. This is not wear; it is character—evidence of ritual, use, and time.

For daily care, gently wipe with a dry microfiber cloth to remove dust after use. When exposed to heat, smoke, ash, or burning incense, expect gradual darkening, subtle staining, and occasional heat marks. These changes are a normal and often celebrated part of bronze's aging process.

If you wish to reduce tarnish or restore a warmer golden tone, apply a small amount of a white vinegar and salt solution or a gentle bronze polish with a soft cloth, rubbing lightly in circular motions. Rinse with water and dry thoroughly. Note that patina will naturally return with continued use. Keep away from abrasive cleaners and scrubbing pads, which can scratch the surface permanently.
